The Internet Speed Race

Over the past several weeks there have been reports of Google fiber coming into the Atlanta area. In response to this companies such as AT&T and Comcast are now offering alternatives to the Google fiber initiative. Both AT&T and Google are promising speeds up to 1 GB. Comcast has surpassed that speed with the option of up to 2 GB along with better wireless connectivity for both inside and outside your home. With these three options it is hard to tell the best one at the moment since pricing is not readily available. For the Atlanta customer base all three of these options are good choices since speeds of 1 GB- 2 GB are more than enough to stream HD movies, play online games or video conference with family and friends. It will be interesting to see what new technologies emerge that will make use of the 1 GB-2 GB of speed.
